On Grafton street right outside of the bar….

DUBLIN, also known as the capital of the republic of Ireland, is located on the country’s east coast. Privileged to have designed for the world renown Irish brand DUNNES, my trip to Dublin was on work. Hence, it was a short 3 day stay the city.

Luckily for me I stayed in the heart of Ireland where most tourist attractions were a walk away.  The places I managed to dash by are a few iconic tourist sites, streets, stores and pubs you must spend time checking out if you ever visit the country.

SITES, STORES AND PUBS…

OLD PARLIAMENT OF DUBLIN

An iconic building in Dublin constructed in the early 70’s that served as the parliament for the ‘kingdom of Ireland’ until abolished when Ireland became became a part of Britain.

TRINITY COLLEGE

Trinity college, AKA the ‘university of Dublin’ is one of 7 ancient universities in Britain, founded by Queen Elizabeth 1 in the 15oo’s. The colonial architecture of this university is inspired by the popular Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

VICTORIAN STREETS OF DUBLIN

The speciality of these streets are the old fashion structures and most importantly the red brick walls maintained from the early years. Didn’t have much time to wander these streets, but the little I did was worth my while. SO BEAUTIFUL.

STEPHEN’S GREENS PARK

Stephen’s greens public park was open to the public in the 1800’s and is located in the heart of Dublin, adjoining Grafton street and a few popular shopping complex’s around the area.  The park is one of Irelands main tourist attractions that is so INSTA WORTHY and not to be missed.

GRAFTON STREET

If are looking to do some shopping in Dublin you CANNOT MISS THIS STREET. Its one of the two biggest streets in Dublin comprising of popular high street brands, department stores and designer wear.

Ps- It is also possibly the very street ED Sheehan met the girl in Galway girl 😛

  • Penny’s

The brand PRIMARK is known as PENNYS in Ireland and is Originally an Irish brand although very popular in the United Kingdom. This department store is extremely affordable with everything under one roof and is ideal if you are a busy tourist trying to get all your shopping done in a few hours.  I LOVE PENNYS!!!!!!!! I spent all my money here!

  • Brown Thomas

Brown Thomas is another popular department store unique only to Ireland. It is literally the Harrods of Ireland! so if you are looking at shopping a little extravagant, you must check this place out.

Ps- This Doorman guy is also quite iconic! 😛  He just completes the whole look.

STATUE OF MOLLY MALONE

The Statue of Molly Malone was initially unveiled on Grafton street, but later shifted to Suffolk Street to make way for some construction work on Grafton street. As of then, the statue still remains on Suffolk Street.

Molly Malone is a fictional personality who lived in Dublin in the 17th century. She was known to be a young street hawker who sold fish at day and a part time streetwalker at night. Although no evidence of her existence in reality, Dubliners have dedicated the 13 June to be “Molly Malone day”.

TEMPLE BAR

Temple bar is one of Ireland’s most ICONIC PUBS located in central Dublin. The pub prides itself on the live traditional music played here everyday, and is one of the oldest party spots Dublin has to offer. We absolutely LOVED the energy and party vibe here.

THE LONG HALL PUB

The long hall pub is another historical pub in Dublin with an old school vibe that immidiately got us hooked. We loved how the place maintained its victorian pub atmosphere and a retro vibe that won’t let you leave without one more Irish coffee.

FOOD & DRINKS

IRISH STEW

‘Irish stew’ in Dublin is like Fish and Chips in London or Hamburgers in the United states! If you miss it you’ve missed the essence of dining here. Commonly made with lamb, mutton and potatoes, almost every roadside diner serves this dish and its affordable.

BESHOFF BROS

A proud family business that claims to provide the highest quality of fresh fish n’ chips to the Dubliners, and i must say they are so right about that. All their products are prepared using only healthy oils and a super thin batters to ensure the tastiest and healthiest fish & chips in Dublin. The business is only unique to Ireland and has been in service for over 75 years. Its a MUST VISIT restaurant because you wont find it anywhere else in the world.

IRISH WHISKEY

‘Guinness’ – a well known Irish Whiskey brewed in DUBLIN and is perfect for those of you who enjoy a drink at anytime of the day. Dubliners live on this! Its the Faluda of Dublin! 😛
