I’ve travelled India twice my whole life and still not eaten Indian food as much as did this night!
Movnpick Colombo had us over to experience ’10 DAYS IN INDIA’ at their very own restuarent AYU on the 8th of February 2018 and we indeed experienced 10 whole days of Indian food!
The night commenced with Indian Music, dances and warm greetings like customised ‘NAMASTE’ welcome cards at every seat. We thought this was rather welcoming!
The guys had maintained their standard buffet style dine in (LKR3750 nett) incorporating an INDIAN touch to everything. For instance the potato salad you will find at their everyday classic buffet was replaced with an ALOO version this time around, but had no shortcoming. Loved how they had mixed and matched these dishes so well.
The starters further included some creative Indian inspired salads and drinks such as chickpea based salads, Achari gobhi, Mor and much more. Not to mention they did have a few mandatory options from their regular buffet as well (Breads/ hummus/cheese etc)
As for mains, the whole spread included a good mix of north and south Indian dishes, along with action stations and stone cooked Rotti’s from scratch. My favourite was the dum biriyani and butter chicken that worked so well together.
Diving straight into Dessert right after, this was my favourite course- OF COURSE! Must say was the best Kheer and Malai cake I’ve tasted.
The night concluded with a spontaneous birthday surprise for me (yes it was my birthday on this day) with cake, flowers, and Indian inspired cocktails that we LOVED! Heres thanking Movenpick Colombo for always making me a part of their journey.
